Take one 5k running event, add an extraordinary amount of powder paint, and you’ve got the Color Run, aka ‘The Happiest 5k on the Planet!’ The Color Run is a five-kilometre race in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometre. The fun continues at the finish line with a gigantic “Color Festival,” using more colored powder to create happiness and lasting memories, not to mention millions of vivid color combinations!

We'll be running as team "Homerunners" in support of Dementia UK.

NAME
- Emily Homer

My Grandma had always been an energetic and fun-loving presence in my life, someone I always loved spending time with as a child. We were always playing games as a family and visiting amusement parks. She was also a very enthusiastic sports fan, a trait I like to think that I got from her!

Sadly Grandma lost her nearly 10 year battle with vascular dementia earlier this year, but I felt an overwhelming desire to do something positive to remember the woman she was, instead of how her disease had changed her. Dementia UK is a fantastic charity that helps millions of families and patients with the unique struggles of dementia and is focused on improving quality of life for dementia patients, something that is very important given the disease's typical long time frame. The Color Run is an event that I think embodies my Grandma's personality perfectly - it's inclusive (everyone can run or walk a 5k), light hearted (messy!) and most of all FUN! How much fun does getting doused with color powder every kilometre sound?

Our efforts will help others suffering from dementia, as well as help their families feel confident their loved ones are getting the care they deserve. Now lets get colorful!
