Imagine that you have a fear (which you may well have and if so, get in touch!) and then imagine that your fear is going to be shown to members of the public in the most famous arts festival of them all. Well, that's the premise of Face your Fears.
Having written a play at University, and never expecting it to see the light of day, it now will. We're also taking it on a mini-tour and are inviting anyone involved to submit their fear which we can all conquer together during the tour week. What's not to love? Everything? Oh ok, let's brick it together!
Hope and Homes for Children (the selected charity) don't know what they've got coming to them

THE CHARITY
HOPE AND HOMES FOR CHILDREN
Hope and Homes for Children is an international charity working to ensure that all children have the chance to grow up in the love of a family. We are leading experts in closing children's institutions and reforming childcare systems.
Many children living in institutions, or orphanages, have at least one parent, but are separated from their families as a result of poverty, conflict, disease and other social and physical causes. Evidence shows that these children have dramatically reduced opportunities in life and that their ability to develop to their full potential is severely undermined. The effects of institutionalisation on children can last a lifetime. Hope and Homes for Children is committed to working with governments to close their institutions through a process called Deinstitutionalisation (DI) by enabling children to return home to their families or into alternative, family-based services.
Deinstitutionalisation (DI) means much more than simply closing down institutions; it is the complex process of replacing a system of long-term residential care in large institutions with a range of family-based alternatives for children and with services which prevent family breakdown in the first place. Specialist expertise is required to close institutions in a manner which safeguards each individual child, ensures the efficient use and transfer of resources, and results in sustainable high quality care services.
THE CHALLENGER
NAME - James Frecknall
Way back in the dark days of University life, the idea of putting on a play that I had written made me wake up in a cold sweat. Being judged - no one likes it, so why actually put yourself up for judgement? There's something weirdly magnetic about it though as well I feel. Putting yourself into uncomfortable positions, taking yourself out of your comfort zone, these are all things that draw people. Why people undertake challenges, whatever they might be. Unfortunately, some people don't have the choice. Countless young people wake up in uncomfortable/unfortunate situations every day and there's nothing they can do about it. For someone whose career is integrally linked to working with young people, this is unacceptable. Hope and Homes for Children work tirelessly to make sure that this number is reduced and if I can put myself into a situation in which, let's be honest, I'd rather not be, but I can do it for the sake of someone else? That's something I can live with and I hope you can too.
