CHALLENGE #7
THUNDER RUN (27.07.2013) - CHALLENGE COMPLETED

THE CHALLENGE

24 Hrs Running Challengers

TEAM 1 - THUNDER DUCKS:
Katy Collins - Andy Connolly - Annie Ribton -  Alberto Anaya-Volpini - Garth Taylor - Ellie Odurny - Joseph Lynch

TEAM 2 - THUNDER SQUIRRELS
Patrick McKnight - Nikki Cally - Lucy Fairburn - Matt Wright - Daniela Pontis - Alice Duggan - Francesco DePaolis

The team is taking part in The Thunder Run on 27th July 2013, a 24 hour event, where someone in the team has to be running at all times.  Some teams will be competing for the highest number of laps run, however I am encouraging my team to have fun, enjoy the event and raise money for a good cause.  Laps times are not important, it is about achieving the event.  I think the hardest thing about the event is going to be staying awake and being physically active for 24 hours.  Although there will be rest times, it might be difficult for some people to sleep and have a proper rest.  That said, it is a great challenge and one which will be lots of fun.  I currently have two teams, the Thunder Ducks and the Thunder Squirrels.  If you would like to join the team, or create a third team please do contact me.  Let the training begin....

THE CHALLENGER

NAME - Katy Collins

I volunteer on Saturdays and help look after the horses and assist in some of the lessons. It is a wonderful charity, it brings such joy to everyone involved - the riders, the familes, staff and volunteers

THE CHARITY

The Diamond Centre, a stables, is a charity soley commited to helping disabled people learn to ride horses.  Diamond has a fantastic team of dedicated staff, and lots of voluntary helpers.

Diamond welcomes people with different disabilities, and are able to work with individuals to progress their riding skills.  Horse riding brings such joy to riders and their familes, for some it provides a different environment, a chance to use and build their muscles, feel in control of their bodies and the horse and have a lot of fun.  Some of the riders are able to progress their skills by taking tests and exams, which gives them goals to work towards.

There is a large waiting list for riders, and some familes travel a long way to have lessons.  The Diamond requires about £500,000 per year to maintain the centre, the horses and all the facilities.  Any money that you donate will greatly help many people, thank you.
